About Cisco Custom Engineering
Our History
As a young engineer straight out of college, Cisco was first introduced to manufacturing back in 2009. During college internships, he was exposed to CNC machining and aerospace tooling design. After graduation, he had the opportunity to work for a small company who subcontracted for the Prime Aerospace companies. It was here he learned the bulk of his design experience.
After 8 years of soaking all the engineering experience he could gain, the CNC machining worm began to take over. There was always a passion to understand how things are manufactured. Thus, Cisco Custom Engineering was founded. Established in 2017, CCE was a tiny shop being ran out of Cisco’s home garage.
It was during the first year of CCE that Cisco studied countless hours on how to run a CNC machine. His engineering background aided in understanding materials but understanding fixturing, workholding and cutting tools was a whole different world.
With the purchase of the first CCE CNC machine, Cisco began testing machining techniques with modern tool paths produced by the CAD/CAM software Fusion 360. Techniques like dynamic adaptive clearing allowed innovative machining methods which allowed CCE to produce parts fast and effectively.
As the customer base began to increase, the small generic CNC machine was no longer able to keep up with customer demands. Thus, the first CCE Haas machine was purchased, model VF-5SS. This machine required more space and the shop was moved to an industrial unit. That unit is where CCE currently resides.
Now CCE has the capability to run even faster and more efficient, opening the door to machine more complex parts of tougher materials like stainless steel and titanium. CCE continues to services customers in the aerospace industry but is now also positioned to help local businesses in the community with their manufacturing needs. More employment opportunities will also soon be available. CCE is committed to have our customers be proud their parts are MADE IN THE USA!
President & Owner
Cisco Hernandez, P.e.
Cisco is a license professional engineer in the state of California. He was raised in the Coachella Valley and holds a mechanical engineering degree from Cal Poly. He has over 10 years of experience as a manufacturing design engineer while being the lead engineering and project manager in high-profile projects for prime companies like Space X, Blue Origin, Orbital ATK, Boeing, Lockheed, James Hardie Building Products and Esterline Defense Technologies. It was here where he was first introduced to various manufacturing methods.
He is now the president and owner of Cisco Custom Engineering, where he brings his extensive engineering experience and laces it with CNC machining. Lifting American manufacturing by lifting the CNC bar, through testing and education, is his passion.
